Hieroglyphic Mountains Guided Off-Road Tour

The Hieroglyphic Mountains are located in central Arizona, straddling the border of Maricopa and Yavapai Counties. The primary access route is through the Boulders OHV staging area, which offers a vault restroom and information kiosk. However, please note that there is no drinking water, dumping stations, picnic tables, or shade structures. The area features 200 miles of backcountry roads, ranging from 1,700 to 3,500 feet in elevation.

While the rating system is still under development, this trail is considered moderate. It provides an excellent introduction to off-roading. The majority of the trail involves traveling through washes and steep hill climbs. There is one waterfall, which offers an introduction to rock climbing, although it's not very difficult. We will travel to the far side of the mountains, reaching the highest drivable point at 3,500 feet. From the top of this mountain, you'll enjoy a beautiful view of Lake Pleasant. Although we are a short drive from Peoria, the distant views will make you feel far removed from civilization. Ocotillo plants are prevalent throughout the trail. To prevent injury to yourself and other passengers, please keep windows closed and hands inside the vehicle, as these plants can be quite thorny
