Who, what, when, where is Seguro Offroad?

Updated: Feb 18

Welcome everyone to a changing definition of what Seguro Offroad was, is and is changing into.

This whole adventure began in late 2019 when I decided to purchase a new vehicle. Since the time I had gotten out of the Army, I have only purchased used compact cars. From a 2002 Kia Rio to my 2007 Nissan Versa. I began hiking new areas of Arizona, in 2015. Inevitably, I went from hiking to mountain biking. late 2019, you would find me on remote hiking trails in my Nissan Versa, with a bike rack on the back. While out shopping, I had a Jeep on my mind, due to marketing. I started thinking of what else I may use the vehicle for, tow rating factored into me deciding to purchase a Ram truck.

Soccoro adventures!

This is where Alex and Seguro paths cross. Growing up, my family (father, brother, uncles, neighbors) always named our vehicles. It was a few months into ownership that I started thinking of what I would call this new truck. I started thinking of how I felt in this truck, right away I was already exploring, increasing the level of trails, I would take this truck on. I ended up calling the truck "Seguro". The Spanish adjective is Sure/Safe. That is how I feel when I drive Seguro, safe and sure! Our adventures grew and soon we found ourselves venturing out to California, Utah, and Nevada, to wheel with like minded individuals. Due to the large size of Seguro, I could not find any local Arizona groups who would let me wheel with them. This is where I connected with Dirt Nation Offroad, Full Size Invasion, Red Rock Ram Rally, and countless others groups. I had to adventure hundreds of miles to be accepted and allowed safely wheel. Safely meaning with another vehicle, and not out there solo wheeling. If something were to go wrong, who would know where I am at?

Through my experiences, I was able to observe that I was not the only outcast who found it difficult to wheel with a group. From Jeeps, Toyotas, Suzuki's and more, each group has a box of what an off-roader should be. If you do not fit into their box, you are not welcomed. This where the concept of Seguro Offroad was born. At Seguro Offroad I want to provide a platform where a new offroad enthusiast can feel welcomed. You do not need a seventy thousand dollar jeep or pickup to wheel. You don't need a rig with tens of thousands of dollars, in the suspension, to have a good time and explore. Through my adventures and volunteering, we can provide guided services where you bring your 4 wheeled drive vehicle out and learn how to drive your rig on different terrain. We have gained a lot of knowledge and can talk you though a mentally challenging obstacle, in worst case scenario hook up a winch line.

Every vehicle is different and not every vehicle can tackle a high rated trail. I can also tell you that every season trails will change. Flash floods, monsoons, natural decay will change the difficulty of a trail, and the path you have to take. Arizona is infamous for desert overgrowth scratching your vehicle. Known as Arizona Pinstriping. Maybe you want an experience with a little less scratches, adventures can be tailored to your liking. On that same thought, maybe you want to experience these more challenging trails and do not have vehicle or don't want to risk your trail. We offer "tours" where you rent out seats in Seguro, for specific trails. We will take you out so you can see a side of Arizona less seen!
